Sunday Brunch at La Fonda

Directions

La Fonda Map

Hotel La Fonda is an easy 45 minutes drive from the San Diego border crossing. Take either the 5 south or 805 south until you get to the border. Once you cross into Mexico, move over to the right lane and look for the signs that read “Rosarito Ensenada Scenic Road”.

You will exit to the right and head west towards the ocean. You will stay on this road for about a mile and then go up and over a large hill. Once you get to the bottom of the hill, exit to the right and merge into the left lane and continue heading west. This will take you to the first toll booth which is also the start of Mexico Highway 1.

The cost of the toll is usually around two dollars. The toll road is well maintained and offers a beautiful drive along the Baja coast! You will reach the second toll booth just after passing by downtown Rosarito.

You are halfway there! Continue on the toll road for about 20 more minutes. You will be getting close when you descend a large hill with an amazing view of La Fonda below you.

Once you get to the bottom of the hill, exit the toll road where the sign says “La Mision/La Fonda” and make a left. Hotel La Fonda is about 1/2 kilometer south on the right. Enjoy your stay!
